Are you like me in a veggie funk? Over the winter, I tend to lose my desire for any veggies. Thankfully I have discovered a very easy and super YUMMO way to get my veggies in. Smoothie King Green Smoothies to the veggie rescue. Smoothie King’s Veggie Blends just got better, again. With a new limited time only Avocado Pineapple Smoothie in the lineup, there are now four delicious Veggie Blends options. Now it’s even easier to get your greens, deliciously.
Look, I don’t hate vegetables, I really like them, especially when anyone BUT me prepares them. And I am a warm weather veggie lover, in the colder months I want comfort food. Veggies don’t comfort me in those months. The problem: the way I prefer vegetables prepared doesn’t mesh with the way my family likes them. Sigh. Dinner time is either about me eating what I don’t enjoy – which tends to be me not eating them, or me hearing how the veggies are not good which tends to make me cranky and NOT want to eat veggies that I don’t LOVE. Enter that vicious cycle having me reaching whatever junky comfort food I can find.
This year discovered a little stealth health….. the veggie smoothies from Smoothie King. You can read all about my love of it here. If I can load up on my veggies early in the day, then I don’t have that dinner time guilt of not eating mine and really its just a much more pleasant dinner for all of us. I can load up a smoothie like you would not believe with some veggie goodness, I have a thing for any frozen drink where I can drink my greens. I am trying to enjoy a smoothie a day to reap the benefits of plants and all the goodies – vitamins, minerals, free radicals, etc that come with them. Plus I like giving my muscles some protein and some my taste buds a sweet treat of fruits.
I LOVE Smoothie King for when I am out and about and need one of my green or veggie blend smoothies. I went nuts over the vegan Mango Kale smoothie I discovered earlier this year but I also enjoy mixing it up Smoothie King’s Apple Kiwi Kale, Berry Carrot Dream and Carrot Kale Dream. Its a lunch on the go that I always enjoy – really for the same price as fast food combo not good for me meal, I find myself more satisfied with a smoothie and happy after I finish. The taste makes me happy and well, I like that I don’t feel sick or overfull when done.
This week I tried the NEW Veggie Avocado Pineapple…um hello gorgeous!
I absolutely LOVE Avocados – which can be tough to get just when the perfect ripeness, this smoothie makes is super easy. Not just for guacamole, they are an amazing plant rich with a wide variety of nutrients – 20 vitamins and minerals in all!
One Serving Of Avocado Contains:
- Vitamin K: 26% of what is recommended daily.
- Folate: 20% of what is recommended daily.
- Vitamin C: 17% of what is recommended daily.
- Potassium: 14%of what is recommended daily.
- Vitamin B5: 14% of what is recommended daily.
- Vitamin B6: 13% of what is recommended daily.
- Vitamin E: 10% of what is recommended daily.
- Small amounts of Magnesium, Manganese, Copper, Iron, Zinc, Phosphorous, Vitamin A, B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin) and B3 (Niacin)
- And you also get protein – yes plants provide that too, healthy fat – we do need fat the good kind, and 6 grams of fiber to keep things moving right along.
The marriage of Avocado and Pineapple is perfection. While the calorie count might scare you off, don’t let it. Avocados are not low calorie, but THESE are the calories your body has been looking for. I have found I can leave out Turbinado because I try not to have added sugar to anything. The folks at smoothie king are great at special requests to like omitting the sugar. If you are worried about calories, try the other veggie blends, the avocado is what makes this one look like its too high to enjoy – but I am telling you this one is worth it those calories are full of the stuff your body NEEDS. Hey more motivation to keep you moving which is also a good thing for your body. #WinWin people.
