What is Katie K Active? Its line of women’s active clothing fits sizes 2 to 3X – YES cute and functional clothes for women of all shapes and sizes. I perused the Katie K Spring Collection and honestly had a hard time picking ONE outfit to try. From the website I love the bright colors, the lines on the clothes, the shapes, the fit and the longer length in the shirts. Yeah, I don’t like too tight shirts and with this line, I saw many possibilities. SO many outfits with ties on the side for the ever flattering ruching effect, very forgiving for women of all shapes and sizes. I have been feeling quite humdrum lately in my usual skirts and race shirts when working out or running and thought it was time for putting some flair in my workout.
The pieces I picked as taken from the Spring 2015 Collection:
LOVED this shirt. Wondered with all my curves, small shoulder frame, short height and large breasts if I could carry this off. BUT should I EVER want to do a Belle race costume, check out the shoulder drape you can wear. Uh-huh…. perfect, just add rosettes. I was torn between this item and the free flow cardigan, but with summer coming I chose this item. This item, you can cinch it up shorter or wear longer, wear it as a cowl neck, draped on shoulders or even as a hood to keep your head warm.
This shirt just looked comfy with the curves of a woman not a boxy man’s tee shirt, and it hugs the shoulders. I thought it would be a nice long shirt to hide my tummy bulge and loved the curve of the bottom. Honesty time here, not a fan of the burnout in general, but this shirt just looked so comfy I had to give it a try. I would say I am fairly conservative so the zebra print also had me a bit concerned as normally not my thing, yet I had to see this on. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut and I wanted this shirt despite it “not being me”.
I love the splash of color on these, I decided to go with the Vivid Blue, though I really had a hard time between that and the Coral. I wanted to show you the online pics because well sometimes you order clothes and they just aren’t what you think they will be.They say these clothes are for all sizes and I don’t exactly look like the ladies above….now, they do have models of all sizes on the website, just not THESE online catalog pics I chose. I generally have issues with ordering online on my body and if cannot return it to a store, I don’t order. The good news, Katie K has a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy as stated on the website:
“Guaranteeing your satisfaction is the most important thing to us when purchasing from Katie K Active. Being on-line shoppers ourselves, we realize that you can never be sure how amazing our activewear is until you have it on! That is why we want you to live with our activewear for 48 hours to make sure it is in fact what you are looking for. If you are unsatisfied with the activewear after the 48 hour period, we welcome you to return the activewear in its original condition using the USPS pre-paid return label.”
OK, on to MY clothes. When I opened the pretty pink box, it was love at first sight. The shirts felt soft, silky feeling, and light. The workmanship looks great – definitely NOT cheaply made. I loved the wider waist band on the capri pants, gently hugs the tummy with minimal mushroom effect. FYI, capri are not compression though soft sweat wicking polyester and spandex. I was worried I might have the old see through spread issue with my large derriere, but Mr Run Walk Repeat confirmed not an issue. I also LOVED the long pocket on one of the legs. My Galaxy 5 phone fit in it though it did stretch out the sides of the pocket and poked a TAD out the top. I would feel comfortable walking or running it might be too heavy, but that pocket is certainly big enough for keys, gels, lip balm, etc. You can really see the stitching on this photo of the pocket…nice straight seams.
I wore my backless tee to the gym for a workout and it was wonderful – cool as I worked up a sweat and it breathed. It moved with me and never got in the way. I felt strong too. Hey when you look good you feel good, right? When I left the gym, I just threw on hooded tee over it all as I was going to Costco where I am always cold. Sweaty and in my workout clothes I felt like I looked stylish compared to the usual shirt from a race or mass market merchandiser…nothing wrong with either, just feeling a little blah in them lately #NoFlair. This hooded tee would be GREAT for walking! I think this was the first time in forever, I did not have a skirt over my capri pants. Mini me told me I looked pretty in my new clothes and insisted on being my photographer.
As a part of the Katie K Active #DefineBrave campaign I have found my brave in setting goals and creating a plan to meet them – so far sticking with it. I know when I feel like I look good, my sense of confidence is elevated – whether working out at gym, running or just running errands. I love that these clothes help me embrace looking good to feeling good through an active lifestyle. The courage to go to the gym, or train for a race or stretch out at yoga – that has been my brave lately. I am so happy to represent Katie K as they give ALL women something beautiful to wear – no matter you size, shape, pace or strength. AND yes, its comfortable and holds up well in performance when working up a sweat. Quick dry too! The only problem is, there is so much to choose from.
